Welcome!
The New Hampshire Winter Season brings a unique opportunity to get out and view some of the states awesome beauty. Any snowmobiler will enjoy New Hampshire, for its breathtaking views, clean country air, and superb trails with good old fashioned New England hospitality.
The Town of Sandwich, New Hampshire, is located on the shores of Squam Lakes, and nestled between two major tourist regions of the Granite State - The Lakes Region and the White Mountains. It is a classic new England setting with colored forests, winding roads and rolling hills which offer some of the best scenic views, hiking, walking and power-sport trails in New Hampshire.
New Hampshire has more than 6,800 miles of groomed trails, and a
dedicated snowmobile trail system that is one of the best in the
world. The NH trails are groomed by local clubs, members of the New
Hampshire Snowmobile Association (NHSA).
New Hampshire is where snowmobiling all began. In1913, a Ford dealer
in Ossippee named Virgil White invented a track and a ski unit
conversion for a Ford Model T. Mr. White called the vehicle a "snow
mobile".
The Sandwich Sidehillers is a non-profit Winter Trail Club
providing and maintaining a multi-use trail system across Squam
Lakes, Sandwich Notch toward the Waterville Valley and White Mountain
areas. Our objectives are to advance the interest, enjoyment, and
safety of winter sports and to establish and maintain multiple use
trails in the Sandwich area.
The Sidehillers meet on the last Thursday of each month at the Club House off of Wing Road at 7pm. All members, and non members are welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.
The 2009-2010 season is almost upon us. Come join us any weekend
as we plan some great trail work, social hours and fundraising events - even if you are just
visiting the area we would love to have you!
Landowners
The Sandwich Sidehillers would like to thank all
of the landowners who have been gracious enough to allow the Club to
mark snowmobile trails across their property over the years. Without
your generosity there would be no snowmobile or winter trail system
for our members and area visitors to enjoy. Please consider this a
thank you from all of our club members.
Trail Users
Most of the trails we service and maintain are on
private property. Since New Hampshire's landowners have a history of
sharing access to their land with responsible recreationists which
means that New Hampshire trail users, especially snowmobilers have a
great responsibility to the landowners. These people are trusting
all of us to treat their property with respect. Please stay on
marked trails, carry out what you carry in and ride safely.
Riding off the trail system or using the trails for purposes other
than marked use requires asking for additional landowner
permission. Never snowmobile on plowed roads and monitor trail
condition reports for trail closures and reroutes due to logging
operations.
