Dog Sled Race Registration

The Mid-distance Sled Dog Race happens again in Sandwich this coming February. Race day is February 20th 2010 and registration is open as of November 1st. This race is a community-sponsored event and the local residents enjoy being able to interact with the Drivers’ and their families. The 45 and 20 mile races cover the Sandwich and North Sandwich scenic White Mountain National Forest, historic Wonalancet and Tamworth trails that include winding tight trails, narrow bridges over brooks, steep hills and open fields. This is a very challenging trail you will enjoy but not forget.

Race Entry

This race is limited to 60 teams

  • 6-8 dog class will be limited to 25 teams
  • 6-dog class will be limited to 25 teams.
  • 2-dog Skijor class will be limited to 10 teams.

To ensure entry, please register early! The Sandwich Sidehillers will begin to accept applications on Nov. 1, 2009. Registration deadline is at 2:00pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010.  All entrants must attend the Drivers’ meeting on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sandwich Elementary School Cafeteria.

Race Purse

6-8 Dog Team 45 miles Purse: $1500.00 USD
6 Dog Team 20 miles Purse: $400.00 USD
2 Dog Skijor 20 miles Purse: $100.00 USD

The Sandwich PTO will be sponsoring a Family-Style Spaghetti Supper at 5:30 p.m. at the Sandwich Central School. $8.00 adult, $5.00 child and $25.00 family of 4. Please come and support the Sandwich PTO Supper. The community looks forward to meeting the Mushers and their families. The Sandwich PTO sponsored supper will be held at the Sandwich Central School. The previous "Adopt a Musher" program is not a reality at this point, but some space may be available.
